Friends of the Library
About the Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library is an active group of volunteers dedicated to supporting and promoting the library. The Friends operate the Corner Book Shop to raise funds and provide an opportunity for interested people to volunteer their time and expertise and meet other Friends.
Projects the Friends have Supported
Some of the many projects the Friends have supported include:
- Summer Reading Programs for all ages
- 1000 Books Before Kindergarten
- Books for New Babies
- The Lucky Day collection
- Overdrive Download Destination eLibrary collection
- Bronze statues on the library grounds in partnership with the Schrandt Endowment Fund
Due to renovations, the Corner Book Shop is temporarily closed this Fall.
We look forward to welcoming you to our new location in the library sometime in early 2025.
The Corner Book Shop
The Corner Book Shop is open daily. All large-sized paperbacks – fiction or non-fiction – are $1. All other adult paperbacks are 50 cents. Children and teen books are 25 cents for paperbacks and 50 cents for hardcover. Other items are also reasonably priced.
Book sales benefit the community by enabling the public to buy a wide variety of books at very low prices, recycling donated items through the community, and providing a steady income which is used to enhance the library’s services and materials.
Donations
The Friends of the Library will accept donations of books, DVDs, audiobooks on CD, music CDs, games, and puzzles. Limit of 1 box or 2 grocery bags of items per donation.
Please, because our customers will not buy them, do not donate encyclopedias, cassette tapes, magazines, condensed books, textbooks more than 10 years old, VHS tapes, dirty items, or damaged items. Please only donate items in good condition that you yourself would purchase.
Donations to the Friends are tax deductible; receipts are available when you bring your donations. You’ll also have the satisfaction of knowing that your donations will be put to good use.
Friends Board Meetings
The Friends Board Meeting is held the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
